About Dr Lakey

Dr Hadley Lakey is a general practitioner in Parklands who is passionate about offering community-focused healthcare to patients of all ages. His journey in medicine began at the University of Cape Town’s Faculty of Health Sciences, where he completed his MBChB in 2021. Since then, Dr Lakey has built a strong foundation of clinical experience across both the public and private sectors—working in high-pressure emergency centres, rural hospitals, and family practices.
He completed his internship at Karl Bremer and Tygerberg Hospitals, rotating through departments such as surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, psychiatry, internal medicine, and anaesthetics. This was followed by a year of community service at Vredenburg Hospital, where he was responsible for managing patients in the general ward and outpatient department—all in a setting without permanent specialists on site. This experience shaped his ability to make confident, well-informed decisions in real time while offering care that is both effective and empathetic.
Today, as a GP in Parklands, Cape Town, Dr Lakey offers a broad range of services tailored to the needs of his local community. These include general consultations, women’s wellness visits, health screenings, medical reports, and both pre-and post-natal check-ups. He provides gentle, attentive paediatric care, drawing on his extensive experience managing neonatal and childhood emergencies in both hospital and community settings.
Dr Lakey believes that medicine should be centred on the person in front of you—not just the condition they present with. He enjoys playing the saxophone and weight training, and was once a long-distance runner who completed several marathons.
